In-Depth Information
Using hotkeys to navigate your workspace will elevate you from a novice to an expert in
no time.
The Command key is used for the navigation area.
The Alt key is for the Assistant Editor and the Utility editor.
The Control key is used with the jump bar and the editing area.
Here are some hotkey combinations that you will use on a regular basis:
Command+Shift+O : Open File
Command+R : Run
Command+B : Build
Command+Shift+F : Find in Project
Command+Shift+K : Clean the projects build directories
In conjunction with hotkeys, Xcode has some gestures that will help you navigate.
Three-finger swipe : This switches you between your .m and .h files. Though
you don't have these files with Swift, if you are doing any Objective-C cod-
ing, you will use this action often.
Two-finger tap : This opens the context menu.
Two-finger swipe : Left/right navigates between files that have been opened
in the editing area. Up/down scrolls the direction in the source code.
Figure 16-2 shows the really useful and powerful assistant pop-up menu, which is the first
item in the jump bar.
