In-Depth Information
Vancouver Outdoors
Vancouver's sparkling natural setting is a key reason many visitors fall in love
with this city. Plunge in at beaches, mountain promontories and perfect trails,
both urban and on the city's tree-lined fringes.
Beaches
You're never far from great beaches in Vancouver, such as the busy, sandy swathes
of Kits Beach and English Bay Beach or more tranquil gems such as Stanley Park's
Third Beach and rustic Spanish Banks. Consider a picnic and plan for a sunset
vista.
Grouse Mountain
It's hard not to take a deep breath when you step onto the smile-triggering summit
of Grouse. Alpine trails, a grizzly bear refuge and some of the most spectacular nat-
ural views of the city shimmering in the water far below will have you itching to
click that camera.
Queen Elizabeth Park
Stunning Stanley Park is hard to measure up to, but don't overlook these manicured
gardens, jaw-dropping panoramic views of the city framed by mountains, and a
tropical botanical garden teeming with beady-eyed, neon-hued birds.
False Creek Seawall
Vancouver's glittering waterfront has a spectacular seawall trail linking more than
20km of coastline, from downtown through Stanley Park and out to UBC. Don't
miss the False Creek stretch; it's crammed with public art and water-to-city views.
Parks & Gardens of UBC
Pacific Spirit Regional Park rivals Stanley Park for stature and tree-hugging glory
but it's UBC's manicured green spaces that attract the crowds. From a symbolic tra-
ditional Japanese garden to the verdant themed areas of the huge Botanical Garden,
green-thumbed visitors have a ball here.
