In-Depth Information
Millennium Line
Alights near shopping malls and suburban districts in Coquitlam and Burnaby. Trains run
every five to eight minutes, with services departing Waterfront Station between 5:54am
and 12:31am Monday to Friday (6:54am and 12:31am Saturday; 7:54am and 11:31pm
Sunday).
Canada Line
Added in 2009, links the city to the airport and Richmond. Trains run every six to 20
minutes. Services run from the airport to downtown between 5:07am and 12:56am and
from Waterfront Station to the airport between 4:48am and 1:05am. If you're heading for
the airport from the city, make sure you board a YVR-bound train - some head to Rich-
mond but not to the airport.
Miniferries
Operators offer day passes (from $10 to $15) as well as discounted books of tickets for
those making multiple watery hops.
Aquabus Ferries ( www.theaquabus.com ; adult/child from $3/1.50) Runs frequent
minivessels (some big enough to carry bikes) between the foot of Hornby St and Gran-
ville Island. It also services several additional spots along the False Creek waterfront as
far as Science World.
False Creek Ferries OFFLINE MAP ( www.granvilleislandferries.bc.ca ; adult/child from $3/
1.50) Operates a similar Granville Island service from Sunset Beach, and has additional
ports of call around False Creek.
Bicycle
Vancouver is a relatively good cycling city. More than 300km of designated routes cris-
scross the region. Cyclists can take their bikes for free on SkyTrains, SeaBuses and
bike-rack-fitted transit buses, as well as on some larger miniferries. Cyclists are required
by law to wear helmets. In recent years, dedicated bike lanes have been created down-
town and a public bike-share scheme is scheduled to be introduced in early 2014.
Pick up a Metro Vancouver Cycling Map ($3.95) from a convenience store for details
on area routes and bike-friendly contacts and resources - or download it for free via the
TransLink website.
If you're traveling sans bike, you can also rent wheels (often including in-line skates)
from businesses around the city, especially on Denman St near Stanley Park - home of
Vancouver's most popular scenic cycling route.
