stomach-warming udon noodles (the tempura noodle bowl is best). Expect attentive

Arrive early: Sachi Sushi doesn't take reservations and the lineups you'll encounter
at peak times can be lengthy.

( 604-932-4540; www.araxi.com ; 4222 Village Sq; mains $24-41; 5-11pm daily, brunch
10am-2pm Sat & Sun) If you're in the village center and it's time for a splurge, get your
smart togs on and head over to Araxi. An inventive and exquisite menu is served up
with charming and courteous service. Try dishes such as perfectly prepared Haida
Gwaii halibut and east coast lobster. Then make a bold attempt to drain the
15,000-bottle wine selection. Save room for a selection of piquant regional cheeses.
Araxi is at the top end of pricing in Whistler, so you might also consider the weekend
brunch, which offers a taste of the high life for less than $20 a dish.
LONGHORN SALOON & GRILL
PUB
OFFLINE MAP GOOGLE MAP
( www.longhornsaloon.ca ; 4284 Mountain Sq; 9am-1am) Drinking here is all about the
scene: spread out on the sprawling patio at the base of Whistler Mountain and you'll be
in the heart of the ski action. The pub food is nothing special (eat before you arrive) but
it's hard to beat the atmosphere on a hopping winter evening as the jugs of fizzy booze
come out and the electric party vibe kicks off.
It's all about the patio here at Longhorn; drinking outside in winter has rarely been
more fun.
BLACK'S RESTAURANT & PUB
PUB
OFFLINE MAP GOOGLE MAP
( www.blackspub.com ; 4270 Mountain Sq; 7am-11pm) This trad retro-pub leans toward
pasta and pizza but also has a good draft- and bottled-beer selection. Among its BC
drafts, the Russell Cream Ale is recommended. And if you indulge too much, come
back for a hearty, hangover-busting breakfast next morning. Black's is located across
from the Village Gondola; the heated patio is perfect for sitting and watching skiers
slide downhill.
