but conservative, and some are quite small, yet the overall effect is grand and classy -
from the Raj-style curry and cocktail restaurant to the sumptuous high tea sipped while
overlooking the waterfront. Even if you don't stay, make sure you stroll through and
soak up the old-world charm.
Whistler
Explore
Nestled in the shade of the formidable Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains, wintertime
Whistler has a frosted, Christmas-card appeal, perfect for skiing. Summer draws even
greater numbers though, with Vancouverites and international travelers lured to the
lakes and crags by a wide array of activities, from mountain biking to hair-raising zip-
line runs. Whistler centers on four main neighborhoods. Approaching via Hwy 99 from
the south, you'll hit Creekside first. Whistler Village is the key hub for shops, restaur-
ants and activity operators. You'll find quieter walks around and beyond the Village
North area, while the Upper Village is home to swanky hotels and a summertime farm-
ers market. Don't be surprised if you get lost when wandering around the labyrinthine
village, but there are always lots of people around to help with directions.
