Stroll west to Burrard St, turn left and walk two blocks south until you reach
West 4th Ave. Cross over and head up West 4th until you come to the city's
biggest travel book store, Wanderlust ( Click here ). Duck inside for some in-
spiring travel tomes and a can of mosquito repellant - not something you'll usu-
ally need in Vancouver.
Cross over and you'll be in front of one of the city's favorite indie shops,
Zulu Records ( Click here ) . It's well worth a few minutes to browse the vinyl
among the local musos here. You should also ask the all-knowing staff to recom-

You're in the heart of the Kits shopping district here, so spend some time
checking out what's on offer. Once you've had your fill, continue westwards on
West 4th and within a few steps you'll come to Fable ( Click here ) , one of the
city's best farm-to-table restaurants. Consider nipping in here to make a dinner
reservation for later in the day: it's usually the only way to avoid a long evening
wait for a table. But if you're hungry now, cross to the other side of West 4th and
slide into Sophie's Cosmic Café ( Click here ) , a retro diner with a great line in
heaping brunches and hearty comfort-food lunches.
After your fuel-up, continue west on the same side and salve your appetite for
fashion at Gravity Pope ( Click here ) . Women and men are treated as clothes-
loving equals here, but it's the shoes that stand out: buy a pair and work them in
with some more strolling.
