MOA TIPS
Admission to the MOA is pretty good value, especially if you include a free tour and
maybe a lecture, but you can stretch your budget even further by rolling in after
5pm on Tuesday evenings, when admission is cut to $9. Arrive at 5pm and you
have four full hours to see as much as possible.
The museum was founded in the basement of the main campus library in
1949 but it moved to its current purpose-built space in 1976. Architect Arthur
Erickson's design was inspired by traditional post and beam structures built
by regional Northwest Coast aboriginal communities. Since moving to its
own space and undergoing two major renovations, the museum has almost
doubled in size. Appropriately, the museum stands on traditional Musqueam
land.
