SHOPPING
The main retailing activity here is along South Granville, which - espe-
cially between Broadway and 16th Ave - recalls a boutique-packed Eng-
lish high street in a well-to-do town. It makes for a pleasant hour or two of
strolling as you nose around fashion stores and slick homeware empori-
ums. Art fans should also check out the handful of private galleries on
Granville north of Broadway. Cambie Village is also worth a poke around,
with some cool indie stores nestled between the restaurants and coffee-
houses.

books (especially the large-format ones near the front) dominates the stacks here and
it's worth some leisurely browsing if you have time to spare. There's an ongoing 20%
reduction off catalog prices, which includes the back wall of Taschen tomes which are
almost impossible to walk past.
There's also a good Moleskine journal selection here. On your way out, check the
rack of art-happening flyers and magazines near the front door and have a quick poke
through the bargain box outside.

wares and accessories that are almost impossible to resist. Form meets function with
everything on the shelves here, including excellent travel clocks, mod coffee pots with
a knowing nod to the 1970s and must-have magnetic keychains from New York's Mu-
seum of Modern Art. Your credit card will soon be sweating.
