South Granville Shop Hop

END MEINHARDT FINE FOODS
LENGTH 1KM; ONE HOUR
Hop on bus number 10 from downtown. While you're on the Granville Bridge, pull
the bell and alight at the first stop after the bridge. Take the first pedestrian street
crossing to the other side of Granville and nip into the Ian Tan Gallery ( Click
here ) for a chin-rubbing look at some modern Canadian art. Don't buy anything
too large or you'll have to carry it on the uphill southbound stretch of Granville St
accurately known as South Granville Rise. Re-cross Granville at the intersection
with 8th Ave, slip into
Tilley Endurables ( Click here ) to try on a few of their
signature travel hats.
Continue south up to the intersection with Broadway. Turn right and within a
few steps you'll come to Oscar's Art Books ( Click here ) . Salivate over the
glossy art and design tomes before retracing your steps along Broadway back to
Granville and heading south. You're now in the heart of South Granville's shop-
ping district. Stay on the right side of Granville and nose into Restoration
Hardware ( Click here ), where you can pick up some design tips for your apart-
ment.
Continue walking south a couple more blocks until you reach the intersection
with W 11th Ave. On the corner you'll find Vancouver's favorite home-grown
chocolate purveyor Purdy's Chocolates ( Click here ) . Consider stopping for a
well-deserved ice-cream bar, or save your appetite for lunch.
Cross over and head east on W 11th Ave for half a block. On your right, you'll
see Rangoli ( Click here ), the perfect pit stop for a tasty Indian curry lunch.
Once you've had your fill, rejoin Granville St and continue south. At the end of the
block, you'll come to Bacci's ( Click here ) ; nip inside to peruse the funky
homewares and trendy fashions. A couple more blocks delivers you to Mein-
hardt Fine Foods ( Click here ) where you can peruse the tempting deli treats.
