DRINKING & NIGHTLIFE
Not renowned for its big-night-out credentials, there are still a couple of
spots here that are perfect for parking your boozy thirst, so long as you
know where to look. Java-wise, there are some excellent neighborhood
coffeehouses dotted on the main drags of Cambie and South Granville,
plus some hidden spots just off the beaten path.

( www.biercraft.com ; 3305 Cambie St; 11:30am-midnight Mon-Thu, 11:30am-1am Fri, 10am-1am
Sat, 10am-midnight Sun; 15) With a wood-lined interior dominated by an imposing stag
painting and with two very popular street-side patios, this is a one of the city's best
spots for beer aficionados. Dive into the astonishing array of Belgium tipples and ex-
cellent BC and US craft brews: a $10 four-flight tasting sampler is a good start. Save
time for food: the menu covers both Belgian and West Coast gastropub fare.
You'll see many of the same locals back here on weekend mornings, salving their
hangovers with brunch: eggs Benedict and huevos rancheros are the perfect medicine.
And if you're a shellfish fan, this is also a popular spot for mussels and fries, with sev-
eral piquant varieties to choose from.

Divided between a casual West Coast restaurant on one side and a funky lounge bar on
the other, the main reason to visit this new kid on the Broadway block is the excellent
craft beer selection. Expect to find drafts from celebrated BC brewers like Parallel 49
and Howe Sound Brewing as well as US tipples by Oregon-based Elysian, among
many others.
