SHAUGHNESSY SWANK
If you're coming in from the airport along Granville St, watch for some extremely
large heritage mansions hidden behind the towering hedges. When you're later
ambling up South Granville checking out the shops, continue south past W 16th
Ave and turn left up McRae Ave. Within a couple of minutes, you'll be in the leafy
heart of Shaughnessy Heights . Planned as a fat cats' neighborhood for the
wealthiest Vancouverites in the early 1900s, it's still lined with magnificent old
piles that make it a wanderable museum of architectural styles. Look out for
everything from revivalist Tudor and Georgian to colonial Dutch and Spanish.
Then buy a lotto ticket so you can move right in.
