Getting Around
SkyTrain
Iconic train system winding through major downtown neighborhoods as well
as out to the suburbs. There are only three lines, so walking and linking to local buses is
often required.
Bus
There's an extensive and generally reliable network in the downtown area and into
major outlying areas such as Main St, Kitsilano and University of British Columbia
(UBC).
Walk
Downtown's city center area is eminently walkable with an easily navigated grid-
like street system.
Bicycle
There's an increasing network of dedicated bike lanes in the downtown core,
plus access to much of the seawall.
Miniferries
Two competing services ply the waters around False Creek. It's the best
way to arrive or depart Granville Island
.

Sleeping
Downtown Vancouver is lined with boutique properties and chain hotels, several of them
among Canada's swankiest sleepovers. If a character B&B is more your style, the West
End and Kitsilano are home to several quality home-away-from-home spots, while
budget options range from city-center hostels to student accommodation at UBC. Pre-
dictably, rates reach their peak here in summer, and advance booking is essential, but
late spring or early fall can deliver serious deals and weather that's almost as good as
August (sometimes).
