The staff sometimes
seems indifferent, but there's no denying the bottled beer selection at this private liquor
store (ie not run by the government like most throughout the city) is among the best
around. Alongside seasonal and stalwart favorites from celebrated BC brewers like
Driftwood and Hoyne, there's a jaw-dropping array of Belgium brews to keep you
merry. There's also a good boutique selection of BC and international wines.
A local favorite, the store is often busy with Main Streeters stocking up for their
house parties (stick around and look alluring and you might even get an invite).

Behind the
blue-painted exterior of this Main St favorite beats the heart of a store that pioneered
the emergence of this area as Vancouver's hip-wear capital. Once a grungy vintage-
clothing shop, it's now a hotbed of local designer duds for the city's slim-fit set - both
men and women. And if you're looking for shoes, try the footwear annex next door.
They can't guarantee to make you cooler here, but they'll certainly have a good try.

distinctive garments (plus idiosyncratic jewelry) for women from Canadian designers:
it's
the
place to find something that nobody else is wearing back home. If you're in a

There's also a real interest in using sustainable materials here, so feel free to ask
about how those shoes you're salivating over were made.
