DRINKING & NIGHTLIFE
If you like your drinks served with a frothy head of ever-chatty locals, the
Drive's friendly neighborhood bars are hard to beat - especially on a
sunny day with a patio seat to be had. And don't forget: this is the best
neighborhood in town for java fans, so you'll find a tasty surfeit of coffee-
house options as well.
STORM CROW TAVERN
PUB

( www.stormcrowtavern.com ; 1305 Commercial Dr; 4pm-1am Mon-Thu, 11am-1am Fri & Sat;
20) Knowing the difference between Narnia and Neverwhere is not a prerequisite for
enjoying this smashing Commercial Dr nerd pub. But if you do, you'll certainly make
new friends. With displays of Dr Who figures and steampunk rayguns - plus a TV that
seems to be always screening Game of Thrones - dive into the craft beer here and settle
in for a fun evening.
There's a small but perfectly formed menu of BC brews (plus some knowingly
named cocktails like Romulan Ale and Release the Kraken), while the grub is of the
cheap-and-cheerful sandwiches and shepherd's pie variety. There are also role-play
books and a wall of board games for the so-inclined (if you know what Elfenland is,
that means you), while live events, including comedy nights, were just being introduced
on our visit. A warm and friendly spot for a night out with some quirky locals.
ST AUGUSTINE'S PUB

Commercial-Broadway) Looking like a regular neighborhood sports bar from the out-
side, step inside St Aug's and you'll find more than 40 on-tap micro brews - one of the
largest selections in the city. Most are from BC - look out for highlights from Russell
Brewing, Storm Brewing and Howe Sound Brewing - but there's also an intriguing se-
lection from south of the border as well.
