The handmade honey pots (honey included) and unique mugs are ideal for local-

PAPER-YA ARTS & CRAFTS
OFFLINE MAP GOOGLE MAP
( www.paper-ya.com ; Net Loft, 1666 Johnston St; 10am-7pm; 50) A magnet for slavering
stationery fetishists (you know who you are), this treasure trove of writing-related eph-
emera ranges from natty pens to quirky, hand-crafted greeting cards. In between, you'll
find an intriguing undercurrent of kitsch-cool Japanese journals and reams of sumptu-
ous washi paper. It's a store that makes you long for the return of traditional letter writ-
ing.
There's also a back wall of seals and sealing wax if you happen to be corresponding
with someone from the Middle Ages.
CRAFTHOUSE ARTS & CRAFTS
OFFLINE MAP GOOGLE MAP
( www.craftcouncilbc.ca ; 1386 Cartwright St; 10:30am-5:30pm; 50) At this bright and
friendly nonprofit gallery run by the Craft Council of British Columbia (CCBC), the
shelves hold everything from glass goblets and woven scarves to French butter dishes
and lathe-turned arbutus wood bowls - all produced by dozens of artisans from across
the region. It's a great place to pick up something different.
On your way out, check the flyers near the door for more info on local gallery and
art-scene happenings.
SPORT GALLERY CLOTHING, GIFTS
OFFLINE MAP GOOGLE MAP
( www.thesportgallery.com ; 1551 Johnston St; 11am-6pm; 50) With its cool array of retro
sportswear and art-gallery selection of historic sports photography, this is the perfect pit
stop for traveling sports nuts. Pick up a 1940s-style Boston Celtics jacket or a T-shirt
proclaiming the old Vancouver Baseball Club and you'll be the coolest dude at the next
sports bar you head into.
Class it up a little with some cuff links made from sections of old baseballs or
hockey pucks used in professional games. You'll find Sport Gallery tucked in a (name-
less) alley of shops under the bridge.
