cer team plays in North America's top-tier Major League Soccer (MLS) arena. They've
struggled a little since being promoted to the league in 2011, but have been finding
their feet (useful for soccer players) in recent seasons. A game makes for a fun couple
of hours. Save time for a souvenir soccer-shirt purchase to impress everyone back
home.
A good family-friendly activity that's also better value than taking everyone to a
Vancouver Canucks game.

( 604-738-7013; www.vtsl.com ; The Improv Centre, 1502 Duranleau St; Wed-Sun; 50)
The city's most popular improv group stages energetic romps - sometimes connected to
themes such as Shakespeare or Star Trek - at this purpose-fitted theater. Whatever the
theme, the approach is the same: if you're sitting near the front, expect to be picked on.
The 11:15pm Friday and Saturday shows are commendably ribald.
If you fancy your skills as a performer, try not to rush the stage. Theatresports offers
regular drop-in Saturday afternoon workshops ($15) for those keen to give improv a try
- you'll likely find out it's much harder than it looks.

( www.carouseltheatre.ca ; Waterfront Theatre; ; 50) Performing at Granville Island's
Waterfront Theatre, this smashing child-focused drama company stages some great,
wide-eyed productions that adults often enjoy just as much as their kids. Adaptations of
children's classics such as The Wind in the Willows have featured in the past, with clev-
er versions of Shakespearen works added to the mix for older children.
It also hosts an excellent kids theater school in summer if you're traveling with a
young thesp.
