( www.bridgesrestaurant.com ; 1696 Duranleau St; mains $18-45; 11am-10pm; 50) This
bright-yellow waterfront bistro has one of Vancouver's best sunset patios from which to
enjoy (slightly pricey) pub-style seafood such as chowder, halibut and chips, and thin-
crust pizzas - the smoked-salmon variety is recommended. Accompany your dinner
with a pitcher of Granville Island Iced Tea (if you have enough friends to finish it).
There's also a fine-dining room upstairs if you want something a little fancier.
This upstairs white-tablecloth space cranks it up, with steaks and lamb racks added
to the seafood (as well as higher prices ). But the view is the same one enjoyed by the
regulars chattering on the patio below.

( 604-669-9030; www.vancouverdine.com ; 1535 Johnston St; mains $15-35; 11:30am-10pm
Sun-Thu, to 11:30pm Fri & Sat; 50) West Coast seafood dominates at this slick, high-
ceilinged restaurant-with-a-view that's tucked under Granville Bridge's iron arches.
The fresh oysters are popular and they're best sampled on the fireplace-warmed rooftop
deck - there's also a sushi bar if your raw mood continues. Sandbar has a giant wine
list, but the urban professionals crowding the U-shaped bar on weekends seem more in-
terested in quaffing cocktails.
A good spot for a romantic dinner, but it can get clamorously crowded on weekends.
