After years of offering little more than boring tourist-trap eateries,
Gastown's handsome heritage buildings are now stuffed with innovative
gourmet hangouts and convivial comfort-food haunts. Many of the area's
watering holes are also high on the must-eat-here list. Things are chan-
ging rapidly, so keep your eyes peeled for new openings. In Chinatown,
Pender and Keefer Sts (between Columbia St and Gore Ave) are your best
bets for authentic Chinese dining, including some with contemporary fu-
sion flourishes.
