Nestled
between Coal Harbour's bobbing boats, Cardero's has a stellar waterfront location. The
restaurant is fine, but the little pub on the side is better. With cozy leather sofas, a
wood-burning fireplace and great views of the marina, it has a decent menu of comfort
food (we recommend the oyster burger) and drafts from Strongbow to local Red Truck
Lager.
There's also live singer-songwriter guitar music several times a week (usually after
8:30pm).

The food here is noth-
ing special but the waterfront alfresco panoramic views of Coal Harbour and the North
Shore mountains more than make up for it. There's a small but drinkable beer selection
- try Whistler Brewing's Black Tusk Ale - plus summer-friendly cocktail slushies.
It's one of the city's best spots to catch an evening Vancouver vista; arrive early or
you'll be wrestling for a table.

A popular gay bar if you like posing (or
just looking), this loungy spot combines a sofa-strewn front space with a cozy back
area that feels a lot more intimate. Separating the two is a side bar staffed by cooler-
than-you servers: this is also where the singletons sit, so you can expect to be the sub-
ject of some flirty attention if you prop yourself here.
There's a good wine list and plenty of tempting cocktails, including the signature
1181 Margarita, made with Cointreau and lime-infused tequila. Davie's classiest gay
bar.

dow as you walk past here on a summer night tells you all you need to know about this
popular gay pub: it's a great place to meet leather-clad, often hairy locals ever-ready to
