The mezzanine level of the Vancouver Art Gallery is home to
a chatty indoor dining area complemented by what is possibly downtown's best and
biggest patio. The food is generally of the salad and sandwiches variety, but it's well
worth stopping in for a drink, especially if you take your coffee (or bottled beer) out to
the parasol-forested outdoor area to watch the Robson St clamor.
This is one of the city's favorite meeting places so it's often packed: arrive late in the
afternoon for your pick of tables. And if you're sitting outside, keep your eyes on your
grub: the local birds are especially bold here.

ping into a shaded forest nook at this well-hidden subterranean eatery. Gorilla Food is
lined with woodsy flourishes and the kind of fresh-faced, healthy-living vegans who
will make you want to adopt a new lifestyle. Organic, raw, vegan and gluten-free is the
approach, which means treats such as curry-sauce veggie burgers and multilayered
lasagna packed with seeds and 'walnut cheez.'
