2.2.3. Nomenclature annotation
Associating a protein with a recommended name and a gene symbol is
also a crucial mission of the UniProt Consortium. This manually inten-
sive task is a very useful service to the community since it helps in the
process of standardizing shared nomenclature, which is often inadequate
in the life sciences field.
