As water leeches from the hillsides in the Otter Creek Wilderness Area, frigid mountain
temperatures create stalactites of ice.
OTTER CREEK TRAIL
You might not guess that the Otter Creek Trail is a rail-trail. Built on a turn-of-
the century timber-logging corridor, the trail follows Otter Creek for 11 very rugged
miles. Running from one end of the Monongahela National Forest's Otter Creek Wil-
derness Area to the other, the Otter Creek Trail serves as a spine to the wilderness
area's extensive trail system.
