DEIGHTONIELLA FRUIT SPOT
Cause
The fungus Deightoniella torulosa .
Management
Specifi c management measures are not warranted if leaf
spot and speckle management recommendations are
implemented.
Symptoms
Sunken, dark brown or black spots, 2-4 mm wide, appear
on fruit. The spots are surrounded by a prominent dark
green halo. The disease may be present on all bunches at all
stages of maturity, and is more prevalent on the outside and
towards the blossom end of the fruit.
FRUIT SPECKLE
Cause
Various fungi, mostly Colletotrichum musae and Fusarium spp.
Symptoms
Fruit speckle is characterised by reddish-brown to black
minute spots, 0.5-1 mm in diameter, often with an oil
or water-soaked margin. All surfaces of the fruit can
