It's a 20-minute walk to Jieshou or Fuxing Villages from the Nangan Airport; most hotels
offer airport pick-up.
BUS
There are two bus lines on the island: mountain and shore. Services run hourly around
the island (NT$15 per trip, from 6.10am to 5.45pm); schedules are posted at bus stops
except, oddly, at the central bus station.
SCOOTER
Rental costs NT$500 per day, including petrol. The information counter at the airport can
help with bookings, but you might have a hard time finding your hotel the first time, so
it's probably best to get your hotel to help with scooter rental after you've checked in.
TAXI
Drivers are supposed to use the meter (NT$100 for the first 1.25km, NT$5 for every ad-
ditional kilometre).

Beigan
A quick ferry takes you from Nangan to Beigan, a less boisterous island which boasts
spectacular coastal scenery, fine beaches and wonderfully preserved Fujian villages you
can stay in overnight.
Ferries to Beigan dock in Baisha Harbour. The island's largest settlement is
Tangci Vil-
lage

Tángqí Cūn, Tangchi
). Beigan is relatively small, but with all the steep hills, rent a
scooter if you want to see the whole place in a day.
