south from the Hengchun bus station and it's to your left. Breakfast is NT$200.
Eating & Drinking
Kenting Village is a tourist town and there is no shortage of food, including Thai, Italian
and even South African. Prices are reasonable and most places are open late. Many res-
taurants, such as Warung Didi's and Amy's, also serve as bars (beer from NT$150), with
music played loudly in the evenings. The Caesar Hotel (Kǎisà Dà Fàndiàn; beer from
NT$140; 11am-10pm) runs an outdoor bar-cafe on Little Bay Beach.
Hengchun and the strip in Nanwan are also loaded with restaurants, while Sail Rock
has big seafood joints.
Warung Didi THAI, MALAYSIAN $$$
(Dídí Xiǎochī; 886 1835; 26 Wenhua Lane, Kenting Rd, Kenting Village; dishes NT$200;
5.30pm-1am) This long-running restaurant draws crowds every night with the promise of
excellent Thai and Malay curries, good music, beer and a lively beach atmosphere.
Reservations recommended on weekends.
Amy's Cucina ITALIAN $$$
(Nánxīng Dàfàndiàn; 131-1 Kenting Rd, Kenting Village; dishes NT$240; 10am-late) This was the
first place in Kenting to serve pizza and it still has some of the best Italian food in the
park. Its casual design makes it suitable for hanging out and enjoying a nice meal.
Bossa Nova Beach Cafe CAFE $$$
(Bāshānuòwǎ; 100 Nanwan Rd, Nanwan; dishes NT$180; 11am-late; ) This cafe sits on the
main drag in Nanwan, across from the beach. Sandwiches are filling. Should you want to
stay in the Nanwan area, the cafe also runs a B&B.
OLD ALANGYI TRAIL: EXPENSIVE EXERCISE
The 12km stretch of coastline between Syuhai (Xùhǎi) in Pingtung County and
Nantian (Nántián) in Taitung County is the last coastline in Taiwan that hasn't yet
been paved by highways. Alangyi Old Trail (Ā lǎngyī Gǔdào), which follows this
coastline and boasts magical ocean-meets-mountains views, is a spectacular five-
hour hike. The trail was first used by the aborigines, then by both the Qing soldiers
and civilians during the 1870s to commute between the east coast and Hengchun
