BUS
Kaohsiung Ke Yuan MAP GOOGLE MAP ( 746 2141; 245 Nanhua St) has buses to
Donggang (NT$125, 50 to 70 minutes, every 15 to 30 minutes), Foguangshan (NT$80,
40 minutes, eight per day), Kenting (every 30 minutes, 24 hours a day) by Kenting Ex-
press (NT$413, 2½ hours) or regular bus (NT$383, 3½ hours), and to Meinong (NT$134,
1½ hours, every one or two hours).
Kuo Kuang Bus Company MAP GOOGLE MAP ( 236 0962; www.kingbus.com.tw ;
306 Jianguo-2 Rd) is located at Kuo Kuang Bus Company Station. It has buses to Taipei
(NT$530, five hours, every half-hour, 24 hours a day) and Taitung (NT$300, four hours).
HIGH SPEED RAIL
The HSR travels from Tsoying station to Taipei every half-hour (NT$1490, two hours).
TRAIN
Kaohsiung is the terminus for most west-coast trains. Trains run frequently from early
morning until midnight to Taipei (fast/slow NT$845/650, five/six hours) and Taichung
(fast/slow NT$375/289, 2½/three hours).
Getting Around
TO/FROM THE AIRPORT & HIGH SPEED RAIL
Taking the KMRT Red Line to the airport and HSR costs NT$35. Taxis to the airport or
HSR cost NT$320 from the city centre.
BUS
The city has a decent bus system that ties in with the KMRT. The bus hub is directly in
front of the train station, and buses have English signage at the front and electronic Eng-
lish displays inside indicating the next stop.
Routes are clearly mapped in English at every KMRT station, and a one-zone fare is
NT$12.
