Restaurants in Itashao are largely set up for groups, but solo travellers can head to the
snack street across from the pier for all manner of aboriginal-style foods, including

side garden gets a bit too much noise from the streets, but it hasn't completely lost its

Drinking & Nightlife
Along the waterfront, both in Shueishe and Itashao, many hotels run cafes where you can
take in the lake views from your table. The Starbucks beside the Del Lago Hotel in
Shueishe actually has one of the nicest views, so don't knock it off your list.

(Yún Shuǐ Fang; 23 Jhongjheng Rd Rd) On the 3rd floor of Fleur de Chine Hotel is this cafe
that boasts fantastic lake views and serves the locally grown Assam black tea. During
Japanese times the tea enjoyed a worldwide reputation that it's slowly regaining.

There are no banks here, but the 7-Eleven on the main road up from the village has an
ATM.
Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area ( www.sunmoonlake.gov.tw ) Excellent online re-
source, with bus information for both getting there and around.
Visitor information centre ( 285 5668; 163 Jhongshan Rd, Shueishe Village; 9am-5pm)
This centre is in a large modern building off the main road just before the turn-off for the
village. English-speaking staff are usually on hand to help with all your needs.
