National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts MUSEUM

The open, modern design is visually sophisticated; high-quality exhibits of both
Taiwanese and foreign artists are featured. Exhibits change often. For children there is a
good, hands-on play area and storybook centre on the lower floors. To get to the museum
take bus 71 or 75 (westbound) from the train station.
Taichung Folk Park CULTURAL SITE
(Táizhōng Mínsú Gōngyuán; 73 Lu Shun Rd, Sec 2; admission NT$50; 9am-5pm, closed Mon)
The park is divided into several sections but most of the interesting material is to the far
right as you enter the park. Don't miss the collections of folk artefacts, which includes
everything from ceramic pillows to farming implements. Board bus 58 at the train sta-
tion.
Paochueh Temple BUDDHIST TEMPLE
(Bǎojué Sì; 140 Jianxing St; 8am-5pm) This Buddhist temple features one of the largest
and fattest Milefo (laughing) Buddhas in Taiwan. Board bus 31 at the train station.
