sea. In one stretch it forms Taroko Gorge, an 18km marble-walled canyon that many con-
sider one of Asia's scenic wonders.
While most activities in the park take place within the gorge, increasingly people are
exploring deeper. Hikers are now tackling high mountains such as Hehuanshan, Bilu
Shan and Nanhudashan, while cyclists have discovered there's a remarkable ride in the
86km from the base to Wuling Pass at 3275m.
