Eating & Drinking
In addition to Nanliao Harbour, the train station area is chock-a-block full of places to
eat, both on the streets and in the shopping malls. The area around the City God Temple
has a lively and well-known food market. If you enjoy sampling local fare try the meat-
balls (
gòngwán
) and flat rice noodles (
bǎntiáo
). The latter are dried by wind, which
means no one makes them like Hsinchu (the Windy City) makes them.
The canal area has a load of Japanese sushi, barbecue and lunchbox restaurants.
PAO
a relaxing place for a coffee. Though closed at the time of writing, PAO should have re-
opened by the time you read this.
