grounds. A beautiful teahouse is aso open from 1pm to 6pm. Bus 230 drops you off right

On the road down from the Folk Arts Museum is this styish hotel with one of the few
mixed sex (swimsuit required), outdoor hot-spring garden complexes. There are beautiful
views over the town and mountains (that's volcanic Guanyinshan in the distance) from
the pools. Rates are lower in summer (NT$500) and drop after 7pm.
Outdoor Public Bath/ Millenium Hot Springs

This mixed
sex (swimsuit required) public hot spring boasts a number of pools ranging in temperat-
ure from comfortably warm to near scalding. It can get unpleasantly crowded here. The
pools are closed for cleaning every 1½ hours or so for 30 minutes.
Longnaitang

Built in 1907, this is
Taiwan's oldest operating bathhouse. The small nude pools are segregated by sex and the
facilities show their age, but the stone is the original and contains hokutolite, a weakly
radioactive crystalline substance found only in Beitou and Japan. Bathing here is not an
experience for everyone, but many travellers enjoy it very much.

An easy walk from Xinbeitou MRT station, SweetMe is a good choice if you want nude
segregated bathing in an upscale environment. There are also private rooms for rent (per
hour NT$1200).
