INTERNET ACCESS
Nearly all hotels and hostels, libraries and major sights have broadband or wi-fi. Chain
cafes usually have paid service only (such as WIFLY) but gourmet cafes will have free
wi-fi. Internet cafes where you pay for a computer and internet are getting scarce but are
still to be found around university areas.
Taipei has 10,000 free wi-fi hotspots, including every MRT station, as part of its Taipei
Free wi-fi program ( www.tpe-free.taipei.gov.tw/tpe ). Signal strength is generally good.
Register at the airport or Taipei Main Station.
For paid wi-fi, you can buy daily or monthly service at 7-Eleven, or online, for the
WIFLY system ( www.wifly.com.tw/Wifly7/tw ) , which includes coverage at all
7-Elevens, Starbucks, MOS Burgers and thousands of other spots around Taipei and
Taiwan.

LEFT LUGGAGE
The basement floor of Taipei Main Station has several rows of coin-operated lockers for
NT$30/70 per three hours for small/large lockers. There's a six-day limit for small lock-
ers and three for large. Taipei Songshan Airport and Taoyuan International Airport also
have lockers and left-luggage service, as do most hotels and hostels.
MEDICAL SERVICES
Almost every hospital in Taipei has English speakers on staff. If you don't have local in-
surance, rates are still very cheap compared to the West. Once you've registered with a
hospital, subsequent appointments can be made online.
