In-Depth Information
(Lán Jiā; 4 Alley 8, Lane 316, Roosevelt Rd, Sec 3; 11am-midnight; Gongguan) Lan Jia is
widely regarded as having the best guā bāo in Taiwan. What's guā bāo ? Think of a sa-
voury slow-braised pork hamburger with pickled mustard and ground peanuts stuffed in-
side a steamed bun. Yep, delicious, and it's starting to take the West by storm, with shops
and trucks offering it now in London, Berlin and across the US. To get here take the
MRT Exit 4 and turn left at the second lane (Lane 316).

delicious, healthy, authentic Middle Eastern staples such as stuffed pitas and hummus for
years now, and they never miss a beat. Sababa is in a funky neighbourhood of other
worthwhile eateries and cafes but we keep going back here. Try the Pita Beirut, with
falafel and chicken.
POT LUCK IN THE PARK
Since 2008, a merry mix of musicians and friends, both foreigners and Taiwanese,
have gathered on the first Sunday of each month in Da'an Park to 'jam, drum,
dance, juggle, play Frisbee, share food, make new friends and music, and share
thoughts'. It is a community and environmentally conscious crowd aiming to create
a fun haven for foreign/local interaction.
Anyone is welcome (including kids). Bring a friendly attitude, vegetarian-only
food to share, your own bowl and utensils, and any musical instruments you have.
The meeting time is between 3pm and 9pm at the second pavilion north of the
Heping andJianguo Rd Intersection.
Check out the group's Facebook ( www.facebook.com/groups/taipeipotluck )
page for the next get-together.
