Chapter 8
Things for the little ones:
It is hard to imagine Universal Orlando as being a place for small kids when you have rides
such as
The Incredible Hulk Coaster
and
Dr. Doom's Fear Fall
dominating the skyline.
It is by no means anything like the mouse-run theme parks a few miles down the road,
but Universal has not completely forgotten about the smallest members of the family. Both
theme parks have areas dedicated especially to children.
Important
: Unlike Walt Disney World, baby formula and diapers are not sold at the parks.
Universal Studios Florida:

Despicable Me: Min-
ion Mayhem
in a 3D simulator ride.
E.T. Adventure
can be a little dark but is a relaxing ride
though kids may not enjoy the sensation of flying.
Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster
is a gentle rollercoaster for starters and the surrounding play areas in
Woody Woodpecker's
KidZone
are great fun for kids, such as the nearby
Curious George Goes To Town
play area.
For entertainment, kids are sure to love
A Day in the Park with Barney
- a live interactive
stage show featuring the dinosaur himself.
When they are happy with these kinds of rides they may want to have a go on
The Simpsons
Ride
and see some great characters (note this may be scary due to the immersion through the
huge screen and simulator).
Islands of Adventure:
In
Islands of Adventure
kids will be sure to love the
Seuss Landing
area of the park with
its bright colors, play areas and meet and greets, as well as several rides which are suitable
for all ages including th
e Caro-Seuss-el; The Cat in the Hat; One Fish, two Fish, Red Fish,
Blue Fish;
and
The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride.
In the
Toon lagoon
area you
will also find several water play areas for kids (or adults) to splash around in.
Marvel Super
Hero Island
also features
Storm Force Accelatron
, which essentially is just a themed teacup
ride.
The
Jurassic Park Discovery Centre
can also be a fun and educational place to take kids to
learn about dinosaurs.
