Chapter 5
Universal Studios Florida - Park Guide
Universal Studios Florida opened in 1990 as the Floridian cousin to the popular Universal
Studios theme park in Hollywood. The original idea of the park was to experience how
movies are made and for actual movies to be made in the park too. Over the years the focus
of the park has changed slightly and the philosophy is now to ride and “experience the
movies” for yourself, as well as learn a bit about movie making in the process. The park
hosted 7.06 million guests in 2013.
Note: Average attraction waits noted in this section here are estimates for busy summer days
when on school break. Wait times may well be lower at other times of the year - they may
also occasionally be higher, especially during the week of 4th July and around Christmas
and New Year. When we list restaurant food prices, this information was accurate during our
last visit to the restaurant - it may have since changed. We also do not post the full menu but
just a sample of the food on offer. Meal prices stated in this section do not include a drink
unless otherwise stated. When an attraction is listed as requiring lockers, all lose items must
be stored in complimentary lockers outside each attraction.
Production Central
Production Central is the gateway to Universal Studios Florida - you must pass through it to
get to the rest of the park and you will walk through it again when exiting. As far as attrac-
tions are concerned, here you will find Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem , Hollywood Rip
Ride Rockit, Shrek 4D and TRANSFORMERS: The Ride-3D .
Production Central is also where Guest Services is located where you can get assistance
with any guest issues including disability assistance, dining reservations, questions, compli-
ments and complaints. You can also exchange some currencies at this location. Guest Ser-
vices is located to the right-hand side after the turnstiles. To the left of the turnstiles you will
find lockers, as well as stroller and wheelchair rentals.
The Studio Audience Center (to the right after the turnstiles) is the place to get tickets for
any shows being filmed in the soundstages at the Universal Orlando resort. Tickets are com-
plimentary. This is also the location for Lost and Found.
First Aid is located next to the Studio Audience Center. Another First Aid station is located
between Louie's Italian Restaurant and Beetlejuice's Graveyard Revenue.
