Chapter 4
Getting there:
Before we get too carried away with all the fun you can have at the Universal Orlando, you
must first make your way there. Here are some of your options:
By car:
Universal Orlando is located about 10 miles southwest of the city of Orlando, Florida and
about 10 miles northeast of the Walt Disney World resort. Universal can be reached easily
by car from the Interstate 4 (I-4) and then following Universal Blvd north to the parking gar-
ages. For your GPS, the address you want is 6000 Universal Blvd, Orlando.
The parking garages are very big and can accommodate about 20,000 vehicles so be sure to
remember where you parked. Garages open at least 90 minutes before official park opening
time and all levels except the roof level are covered which means you will not come back
to a car that has been in the sunlight all day or have to walk through the rain to get to your
vehicle.
There is an easy to remember parking system - each parking spot is assigned a character
name and a number - make sure to note it down as it could save you hours later on! A good
tip is to take a photo of your parking location (but also write it down in case your phone
or camera battery dies). The garages are located approximately 5 to 10 minutes walk away
from the theme parks.
Parking is charged at $17 a day for self-parking (free for Preferred and Premium Annual
Passholders). Preferred parking is $22 (discounted for Preferred Annual Passholders and
free for Premier Passholders) and valet parking is $30 a day ($15 for Preferred Annual
Passholders and free for Premier Passholders). “Red carpet valet” parking is available for a
surcharge that guarantees you will get your car within 5 minutes.
Disabled parking bays are available; just make sure to request them. These are located
slightly closer to CityWalk and the theme parks.
Lunchtime visitors to CityWalk can get free valet parking by asking for their restaurant re-
ceipt to be validated from Monday to Friday for two hours of free arking. Contact your
restaurant for the specific hours of this offer. A signposted passenger drop-off point is also
available.
