Refillable Cups, Coca Cola Freestyle and Popcorn Buckets
There are two different options for refillable drinks in the theme parks: the classic refillable
cups and the coca cola freestyle refillable cups.
Arefillablecupcosts$8.99plustax.Onceyouhavepurchasedthecupyouaretheneligible
for discounted refills priced at 99 cents plus tax. The cups can be refilled virtually every-
where within the two theme parks that serves fountain drinks - that is pretty much every
quick-service and full-service location, but not food carts. You can also have your cup re-
filled in CityWalk , but not at any of the on-site hotels. Once you have purchased one of
these cups you can get unlimited 99-cent refills for life under the current policy. Note that
refillsareforfountaindrinksonlysuchasCocaCola,FantaandSprite.Youwillnotbeable
to get discounted refills on any specialty drinks such as Butterbeer or any specialty drinks
from Simpsons' Fast Food Blvd. You can also get discounts on refills of tea, lemonade, and
cider inside the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and for slushies and ICEEs elsewhere at
the parks.
Refillable popcorn buckets work in the same way as the refillable cups listed above - you
pay $5.99 for the popcorn bucket and then refills are $1.29 cents plus tax each - there
are four places at each theme park where your souvenir bucket can be refilled: just look
for the big popcorn machines - these are usually outdoors. There are no popcorn refills at
CityWalk , nor at any of the on-site hotels . Popcorn refills are also available for standard
popcorn;flavoredpopcornisnotavailableatadiscountandmustbepurchasedatfullprice.
Finally there are the Coca Cola Freestyle machines which operate in a completely different
manner to the two aforementioned schemed. Essentially you pay $11.99 plus tax for a Coca
Cola Freestyle cup. You then visit any of the 8 Coca Cola Freestyle locations - 4 in each
park (all in quick-service restaurants bar one in Islands of Adventure ) and refill your cup
for free for that day - there are also other Freestyle machines throughout the parks that are
not inside quick service locations. The cup has an RFID chip and will only be activated for
that day - so after that the cup will not work for free refills. There are over 100 different
Coke drink mixes you can choose from at the machine, or you can stick to the plain old
coke products - it is up to you. Making you wait ten minutes between refills with Coca
Cola Freestyle discourages sharing. Additional days can be added at $5.99 a day. There are
no Coke Freestyle stations at CityWalk or any of Universal's on-site hotels that can be used
at this system.
