TREF has been regarded as a powerful
technique for the structural study of semi-
crystalline polymers. In this paper, two
examples of TREF applications were
reported for isospecific propylene poly-
merization kinetics and for degradation
behavior of isotactic polypropylene. TREF
could detect the conversion from higher
to lower isospecific sites by extraction of
internal donor and estimate an inverse
correlation between isotacticity and degra-
dation rate of isotactic polypropylene. It
was found that TREF possesses an exten-
sive applicability to different problems in
polymer science.
