Push versus pull
.
Push and pull issues are often architecture issues hidden from the user.
Push does not always mean that the system is pushing something to the
user, or that in pull, the user is pulling something from the system. Push
and pull interact in many different ways, muddling the separation between
the two: the push may follow a pull, the pull may be the result of a push
(“Your statement is ready.”). Many solutions are hybrid solutions.
Push and pull — both do the work. They require some infrastructure
or resources to do that work. If one is trying to push to the edges, then
the resources should be at the center. If one is trying to pull to the edges,
then the edges should have the resources. The edges may not always
have the required resources.
