Yellowstone National Park

leave from the visitor centers. The Yellowstone in a day tour ($62 adults/$31 children),
which starts in Mammoth or Gardiner, is free for kids under eight years old.

Grand Teton National Park National Park
Jackson has a free town shuttle that runs every 20 to 30 minutes and the Start Bus
( www.startbus.com ) public service to Teton Village.
Alltrans Park Shuttle ( 800-443-6133, 307-733-3135; www.alltransparkshuttle.com ;
daily pass to-from park $12; 7am-7pm Jun-Sep) Operates several buses a day in sum-
mer between Jackson, Moose, Jenny Lake Lodge, Signal Mountain Lodge, Jackson Lake
Lodge and Colter Bay. Riders can pay with cash or credit cards. Rides are unlimited on
the daily pass. The service is free for guests of Grand Teton Lodging Company (GTLC)
properties. Call for airport shuttle service (one way from Jackson is $16).
CART ( 208-354-2240) Idaho Falls-based bus services between Jackson and Idaho
Falls via Teton Valley.
Jackson Hole Express ( 307-733-1719, 800-443-6133; www.jacksonholebus.com ) For
regional shuttle service, Alltrans shuttles daily from Jackson to Idaho Falls (one way/
round-trip $40/70, 2½ hours), Salt Lake City (one way/round-trip $75/140, 4½ hours) and
points in between. Reservations are recommended.
Car & Motorcycle
While drivers in this region tend to be lead-footed on the interstate, traffic in the park is
exasperatingly slow, typified by lumbering RVs wheezing over the Continental Divide. At
the slightest whiff of a bison or moose, traffic slams to a halt. For this reason, it pays be
extra-attentive when driving.
