with history, this is the oldest lodge within the whole park system. Worn timbers, down
comforters and colorful quilts imbue this elegant lodging off Teton Park Rd with a cozy
atmosphere. Outdoor rockers welcome you to your private cabin, furnished with flannel
chairs, plush quilts and down comforters. Perks include robes and remodeled baths, but no
TVs or radios (phones available on request). Rainy days are for hunkering down at the
fireplace in the main lodge with a game or book from the stacks. Rates include breakfast,
a five-course dinner, cruiser bicycles and guided horseback riding on nearby trails. The
lodge goes above and beyond to create a community feel, with daily activities for guests
only, like naturalist talks or croquet on the lawn. Reservation lines open November 1 for
the following year. It's run by Grand Teton Lodge Company.
Climbers' Ranch $

Started as a refuge for serious climbers, this group of rustic log cabins run by the Americ-
an Alpine Club is now available to hikers. In a spectacular, in-park location, with a
climbers' library and occasional talks and slide shows. Amenities include a bathhouse
with showers and sheltered cook station with locking bins for coolers. Bring your own
sleeping bag and pad (the bunks are bare), but it's still a great deal. Members of the AAC
get a discounted rate and volunteers for June's work week stay the rest of the month for
free. The ranch is just south of the Teton Glacier turnout.
