This lodge perches on a bluff overlooking the Tetons and Jackson Lake, 1 mile north of
Jackson Lake Junction. Standard rooms have barely changed in 50 years, but aesthetics
take the backseat to nature here, and the lodge gets many nostalgic returning guests. Perks
include soft sheets, meandering trails and enormous picture windows framing the lumin-
ous peaks (though you can save yourself $100 and catch the views off the patio). The 348
cinderblock cottages - lifted straight out of the suburbs - are generally overpriced, though
some offer private balconies with a view. The duplex walls can be very thin. Amenities in-
clude a business center, a heated outdoor pool and a nearby medical clinic.

While these lakeside lodgings beg for a thorough update, they have
one thing clear: location, location, location. Smack in the middle of the park, accommoda-
tions range from motel rooms to cabins, bungalows and lakefront retreats. Extras can in-
clude a kitchenette, gas fireplace and lake views. All units have electric heat, while perks
include self-service laundry and dryers, and a TV and games room. Pets lodge too with a
$10 fee. Look for early-season discounts. Located on Teton Park Rd, 2 miles southwest of
Jackson Lake Junction.

Colter Bay Village $

Half a mile west of Colter
Bay Junction, Colter Bay Village offers two types of accommodations. Tent cabins (June
to early September) are very basic log-and-canvas structures sporting all the charm of a
Siberian gulag. Expect bare bunks, a wood-burning stove, picnic table and outdoor grill.
Bathrooms are separate and sleeping bags can be rented. At these prices, you're better off
camping. The log cabins, some original, are much more comfortable and a better deal;
they're available late May to late September.
