) Since its occupation by the US Cavalry, this 1910 resort has been gussied up:
walkways lead to prim log duplexes featuring rooms with phones, coffeemakers and patio
rockers. While less rugged than a mountain hideaway, the grounds still provide solitude
for a short break. Pet-friendly ($10 extra), it's popular with families and couples; most
stay a night or two between parks. The lodge offers upscale dining, a minimarket and an
activities desk. Shuttles go to Jackson and the Jackson Hole Airport.

At campgrounds run by the Grand Teton Lodge Company (GTLC), walk-in hikers and bi-
cyclists pay only $8 per person, with specific sites reserved for them.
Lizard Creek Campground $

peninsula along Jackson Lake's north shore, about 8 miles north of Colter Bay Junction,
these secluded woodsy sites (60 total) are a great option. Register early since it's popular
with boaters. Vehicle length limited to 30ft.

campground with 86 sites looks out on lovely sunsets on Jackson Lake from 5 miles south
of Jackson Lake Junction. Sites can be cramped but are convenient: a restaurant, bar, gro-
cery store and marina are nearby. Vehicle size is limited to 30ft. There's a dump station
for RVs.
