Terrain includes 2000 skiable acres with 4500ft of vertical drop. Tickets are $58/49 full/
half day; children under 10 ski free. Combination tickets with Big Sky (the 'Biggest Ski-
ing in America') now allow you to connect both slopes for an awesome 5500 acres of ter-
rain ($95 for a full day).
From June to September the Ramcharger lift shuttles people and bikes to 10,000ft
(10:30am to 3:30pm) for $19 ($30 for unlimited use), from where mountain bikers can
choose from a dozen great downhill rides. Thrillseekers will love the new bungee trampo-
line ($11) and guided ziplines ($63).
Lone Mountain Ranch
( 406-995-4644; www.lmranch.com ) Tucked into the sagebrush meadows, this is one
of the country's top Nordic resorts, with 47 miles of groomed cross-country trails and a
full-service, high-end lodge. Day trail ski/snowshoe passes cost $20/15; it's free for kids
12 and under. The 'first-timer' package ($53) is a particular bargain, including group les-
son, trail fee and gear rental. Other standouts include the prime-rib dinner sleigh rides
($85) and ski and snowshoe tours of the Yellowstone Park's northwest ($85 per person).
Summer brings fly-fishing and horseback riding.

Big Sky, this place 100 yards south of the Big Sky turnoff on US 191 tends to have the
best prices, with downhill/cross-country ski rentals from $21/12 per day.
