B&B
Lehrkind Mansion Bed & Breakfast $$
( 406-585-6932; www.bozemanbedandbreakfast.com ; 719 N Wallace Ave; d incl
breakfast $159-229; ) This sophisticated Victorian B&B of nine rooms was built by a
Swiss-German master brewer and is steeped in period furniture and history (the bricks
were actually soaked in beer before construction). The 7ft Regina music box (one of only
25) is a highlight, as are the organic breakfasts and clawfoot bathtubs. If they are around,
the owners can fill you in on all the park's hidden spots; they are former Yellowstone Park
rangers.
Howlers Inn $$
( 406-586-0304; www.howlersinn.com ; 3185 Jackson Creek Rd; d incl breakfast
$115-145; ) Wolf-watchers will love this tranquil spot, in a beautiful valley 15
minutes outside Bozeman. Two captive-born wolf packs live onsite in fenced compounds,
supported by profits from the B&B. The three spacious rooms in the main lodge come
with a DVD player, or choose the separate two-bedroom cabin ($195) with kitchen. With
luck you'll drift off to sleep listening to the howling of the wolves. Take exit 319 off I-90.
B&B

really tries. It's dated (squint and it's almost retro cool) but spacious rooms offer large
TVs, microwave, fridge, continental breakfast, laundry service and a handful of DVDs for
rent. Swings are set up in a grassy space for the kiddies.

Only Jackson can compete with Bozeman's range of excellent restaurants. The Ale Works

John Bozeman's Bistro $$$
( 406-587-4100; www.johnbozemansbistro.com ; 125 W Main St; mains $14-30;
Tue-Sat; ) Simply put, this is Bozeman's best restaurant. Thai, Creole and pan-Asian
slants liven the cowboy-dinner steak, as do fine starters like lobster chowder and cam-
bazola pastry. The weekly 'superfood' specials focus on especially fresh, healthy, seasonal
