Summary There's plenty of flexibility here for all levels, mixing an easy hike to Cascade
Lake with fine views atop Observation Peak.
There's something for everyone on this trail, which starts just a couple of minutes' drive
north of Canyon Village. The full hike climbs 1400ft to Observation Peak (9397ft), but
the easier turnaround at Cascade Lake gives a level hike of only 4.4 miles return (2½
hours). You can also add on a 4-mile return side trip to Grebe Lake, should you want. If
you can arrange a car shuttle, it's also possible to hike in from Cascade Lake Trailhead
and hike out south to the slightly further Cascade Creek Trailhead, on the Canyon-Norris
road.
