Jackson, WY
A fido-crazed town with a pet resort and hip dog park.
While vacation-time loyalty to a furry friend is admirable, national parks are a challenging
place for pets. Strict restrictions limit pets to paved parking lots and picnic areas. With
good reason, too, as these are some of the country's wildest places, where large, charismat-
ic wildlife could be easily threatened by domestic animals (or vice-versa). Still, travel with
pets should be as hassle-free and fun as possible. One option is to take advantage of nation-
al forest trails where dogs are allowed on a leash. There are many near Yellowstone and the
Tetons and your dog will thank you for the introduction to a world of new sights and
smells.
