In-Depth Information
PROPHETS uses OntEd [216], a jABC plugin for the visualization and edit-
ing of OWL ontologies, as a simple, built-in editor for the type and service
taxonomies.

Fig. 2.11 Exemplary type taxonomy
Similar to the exemplary service and type classification schemes of Section
1.1.2, Figures 2.10 and 2.11 depict possible type and service taxonomies, re-
spectively, as they may be defined for the birthday card creation workflow ex-
ample. The generic root Thing and the abstract classes in the taxonomies are
written in italics, while the concrete service and type instances are set in nor-
mal font. The service taxonomy distinguishes the images processing services
in the domain further into data input (comprising the services for loading data
from a camera and from a database), data output (saving and sending files) and
image conversion services . The latter defines again three subclasses, namely
image improvement ( normalize , despeckle ), image adaptation ( rotate )and
image extension ( draw , polaroid , border ). The type taxonomy defines four
sub-categories for graphics formats ,namely raster format (covering the tiff ,
jpeg , png , raw and bmp file types), vector format ( cgm , svg ), stereo format ( imo ,
pns , jps )and compound format ( ps , pdf , eps ).
