Reading head clips
Remove the red reading head clips to free up the reading heads. These are
the red clips held in by a screw at each side of the reading head. Put these
clips and screws away safely in case you ever need to remove the scales,
perhaps when moving house. You will need the clips to refit the scales. One
of the brackets I used was supplied in the readout's kit of parts and some I
made from 2 × 2 × 1 4 in aluminium angle.
Finally, the digital display is mounted onto the side of the machine. You
could mount this on the wall near the machine if the machine is not big
enough. The readout should be fitted on a swivel so you can move it towards
you when it is needed and out of the way when not required. Once you have
used a digital readout, you will never want to go back to using the handwheel
graduations.
