In-Depth Information
table by the required drilling depth, and the point of the drill will drill to the cor-
rect depth.
If you do not have a knee, you can put a drill shank or block of metal on
the drill stop and lower the head or otherwise adjust the depth of the drill point
until the block is captive and the drill point is on the top of the work. Remove
the block and you can drill to the required depth.
Traverse stops
Traverse stops on the X and Y axes are very useful. It is easy to wind past
the required position, but if you have a stop in the way you cannot. Set the
stops at the extremes of the travel by using a block between the stops or by
measuring the gap with a vernier calliper.
DTI on stops
A plunger dial test indicator can also be fitted to the stop blocks so you can
see when you reach zero. These plunger indicators can usually have the dial
set to zero so you can make fine adjustments to get the position accurate.
Fig. 12.11. Stops on the X and Y axes will be found very useful for repetition work.
The two stops on the right-hand side can be moved anywhere on the front of the
table. The bar to the left is the stop bar, and on this machine the stop bar can be
raised or lowered.
